Which Types of Addiction Treatment Does Premera Blue Cross Cover?

Your drug or alcohol addiction treatment may be fully or partially covered by your Premera Blue Cross plan.²

Levels of treatment that may be fully or partially covered by your Premera Blue Cross coverage for addiction include:

Medical Detox. Medical detox offers medical interventions that can help reduce the withdrawal symptoms you may be experienced as you clear drugs and alcohol from your body.³ This level of care on its own is not considered effective, but can be when combined with other levels of care.³

Partial hospitalization treatment (PHP). Drug and alcohol PHPs offer the highest level of outpatient care, requiring patients to attend treatment 6 to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.^2,³
Intensive outpatient treatment (IOP). Offering a higher level of intensity than standard outpatient treatment, IOPs often require a commitment of attending treatment for 2 to 5 days per week for several months at a time.^2,³
Outpatient treatment. Outpatient addiction treatment programs can provide you with rehab care during the day, after work, or on the weekends. They require the least amount of time commitment and are ideal for those with mild to moderate substance use disorders.^2,3
