Crossroads for Women is a 60 bed, no frills, AA residential program. Upon entrance the person is told they are not to have contact with the world for 30 days. Meetings are mandatory, and they are quite uplifting. I have attended many many with my sister! I love the special bond that grows among women in isolation. Once the distractions are removed, the healing begins. The live-in staff are all former addicts who are very compassionate. The place is strict. Everyone out of bed by 8am. Daily chores are assigned. If caught using, you are out....but they will let you return after 30 days. My sister just celebrated her 5th year of sobriety, after 30 YEARS of alcoholism. Each cohort becomes a support group for each other. I have witnessed this bond continuing beyond re-entry into society.
