Safe Harbor Treatment Centers for Women

546 Bernard St., Costa Mesa, California, 92627
Safe Harbor has been working to break the vicious cycle of drug and alcohol addiction for 20 years. The women-only rehab treats substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders by focusing on the whole person — body, mind and spirit. The facility believes that addiction is a symptom of deeper underlying issues and is dedicated to helping each client address and turnaround the maladaptive coping skills that no longer serve her. In an intimate, all-female environment, women are given the opportunity to safely explore their past and learn the coping skills necessary for a sober future.

Facility Highlights

  • Substance abuse treatment specific to women
  • Programs for young adults, co-occuring eating disorder and, trauma
  • 12 Step based

Specialization

  • 12-Step

The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.
  • Holistic Therapy

Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.

Safe Harbor is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I went through Magellan which helped me with my addiction and eating disorder. Safe Harbor helps you recover mentally, spiritually, and physically. The times I had issues was because of my doing and my addiction rearing it’s ugly head. The case managers are helpful and care about you, only wanting the best for you. Support staff is also extremely helpful and are usually alums of the program; which makes them women to look up to. This place saved my life and I could not be more grateful.

Safe Harbor was instrumental in my recovery. After spending 90 days in a treatment center in Tennesse, it was the perfect place for sober living. I was surrounded by amazing, sober women that helped learn how to live life as a sober woman. I'm now almost 2 years sober and I couldn't have done that without Safe Harbor. The women behind this facility are what make it unlike any other. Safe Harbor is full of love and hope. I can truly say I owe my the beautiful life I have today to Safe Harbor. I'm so grateful that place.

I went here for a few months and have so much gratitude for my experience and the skills I've developed here. It is a rehab so there were obviously moments where I hated everything about it, but in the end I would not trade my experience for the world. Although I'm not drug and drink free, it turned my life around for the better. For the first time in my life I can say that I feel successful. I am finally happy, financially and emotionally stable, and know myself better than ever. My life has progressed SO much since being at Safe Harbor and I could let have done it without the staff and people I've met there. Highly recommended.. oh and they drive you around in Audi's, you have a chef who makes delicious and organic meals, luxury apartments, and gorgeous landscape. It's truely a break from real life with a very intense twist.

I love how the girls who work there have most likely been a client at Safe Harbor. I miss Safe Harbor and I can't believe it's been over 5 years since I was there!! I loved how peaceful my mornings were on the front porch at Capella. I was told to "stick with the winners" right after arriving and somehow I just followed that suggestion the best I could. I wanted to be and stay sober so I did everything I could to follow direction and be as honest as possible. I was able to come out about my sexuality in one of our morning groups after years of judgment toward myself and accept who I am as a loved human being. I am still really great friends with the girls who I met at Safe Harbor and one male staff member was one of my biggest supports through the tough times. I've always said if I won the lottery I would donate as much as I could to Safe Harbor because of how my 90 days there changed my life forever.

The love and compassion that the staff had made all the difference in the world. It was small entreat I felt I got one on one treatment. No weaknesses that I can think of I had been to many treament centers and relapsed after having 10 years of sobriety and working at a rehab for 9 of those years. After my relapse, the shame was unbearable and the thought of going to treatment and "trying again" was too much. God knew that I needed to feel loved so he sent me to Safe Harbor, Capella. I was able to deal with trauma and begin to forgive and love myself again. They went out of their way to make sure my then 10 yr old son could fly out from Texas to spend thanksgiving with me. It was an amazing experience and after 90 days, I came home a changed woman and have been sober ever since. God healed me at Safe Harbor and I will forever be grateful.
