According to Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, prescription opioid abuse is affecting residents in communities all over the state.¹  However, opioids are not the only drugs causing problems. • In 2014-2015, 8.1% of adolescents age 12-17 said they’d used marijuana in the month prior to the survey. The national average during that time was 7.2%.⁶
• 5% of individuals aged 12-20 in Michigan reported binge alcohol use during the month prior to being surveyed according to 2013-2014 data. The national average is 14%.⁴
• Just 8.2% of adolescents and adults ages 12 and older in Michigan with alcohol dependence or abuse received any treatment within the past year, according to 2010-2014 data.⁴
