Outpatient Drug & Alcohol Rehabs in Florida

Florida is one of the hubs of drug recovery programs in the country. It has 560 outpatient programs, 198 residential programs, and 41 hospital inpatient programs. Sixty-one facilities offer opioid treatment programs that provide methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.

Treatment should be tailored to your needs, and luckily Florida offers a range of treatment options to choose from. Your recommended treatment plan will depend on a number of factors including your overall health, mental health, how long you abused substances, the severity of your addiction, poly-drug use, and whether you are at risk for dangerous withdrawal symptoms.

Most treatment programs also offer the opportunity to attend 12-Step meetings where you can offer and receive support from others who are going through the recovery process.

• From 2010-2014, Florida youth were consistently below or on par with national averages on substance abuse indicators, including past-month illicit drug use, cigarette use, binge alcohol use, and nonmedical use of pain relievers. They were also below or on par with national averages for past-year major depressive episodes during that time.⁴

• Alcohol is the most commonly used drug among Florida students. Across 7 surveyed grades, 39.1% reported lifetime use and 18.3% reported past 30-day use. After alcohol, students reported marijuana (21.3% lifetime and 11.2% past-30-day) and electronic vapor products (25.8% lifetime and 9.6% past-30-day) as the most commonly used drugs.¹
• In 2016, 75% of all juvenile (below age 18) addiction treatment primary admissions were for marijuana.³
• In 2015, 2,530 (22.7% more than in 2014) people in Florida died with at least one prescription drug in their system that was identified as the cause of death.²
• The drugs that caused the most drug deaths in Florida in 2015 were benzodiazepines (1,140), cocaine (967), morphine (895), ethyl alcohol (810), heroin (733), fentanyl (705), oxycodone (565), methadone (290) and hydrocodone (236). Heroin deaths increased by 79.7% compared to 2014. Deaths caused by fentanyl increased by 77.6% compared to 2014.²
• Methamphetamine deaths increased in Florida by 165% between 2011 and 2015.³

The cost of attending rehab in Florida varies based on a number of factors, including:

Florida Blue substance abuse treatment services can include medical detoxification, outpatient and/or inpatient care, including long-term extended stay programs, medications for addiction treatment, as well as counseling and therapy sessions.

Does BCBS Cover Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment in FL?

The Affordable Care Act classifies mental health and substance abuse services as essential health benefits, which means individuals with Florida Blue health insurance can access drug and alcohol addiction treatment services.² Like most health insurance plans, under Florida Blue you may be responsible for certain costs such as copay, deductible, coinsurance, out-of-pocket, and premium amounts.³
